I shared a different recipe for snickerdoodles awhile back, but found this recipe and like it better- very similar, except this recipe calls for butter and less shortening. Super simple and quick to make, these cookies are great for last minute get togethers or for an afternoon snack. :) Snickerdoodles 1½ cups sugar ½ cup butter, softened ½ cup shortening 2 large eggs 2¾ cups all-purpose flour 2 tsp. cream of tartar 1 tsp. baking soda ¼ tsp. salt ¼ cup sugar 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Heat oven to 400 degrees F. In large bowl, beat 1½ cups sugar, the butter, shortening and eggs with electric mixer on medium speed. Stir in the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt.
Shape dough into 1¼-inch balls. In small bowl, mix ¼ cup sugar and cinnamon. Roll balls in cinnamon-sugar mixture. On a greased cookie sheet (or lined with parchment paper), place balls 2 inches apart.
Bake 8-10 minutes or until set. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to cooling rack.
